Building the systems behind the world’s most demanding transit environments.
From Class X airports like Chicago O’Hare to multi-modal transit hubs across the country, terminals today are designed to operate like microcities. They house retail, security, customs, wellness zones, data centers, and critical command operations that need to perform like clockwork 24/7. At Level‑1 Global Solutions, we design integrated infrastructures that bridge aviation and transit environments with precision and foresight.
Designing Infrastructure for a City within a City.
Transit systems are among the most complex built environments. Infrastructure must scale with ridership, meet stringent safety and accessibility standards, and integrate across layers of aviation and surface transit. Chicago is home to the CTA, the nation’s second-largest public transportation system and one of only three worldwide that runs 24/7. The CTA has installed more than 33,000 high-definition cameras across buses, trains, and rail stations as part of its “Safe & Secure” program, doubling its camera network since 2011 and enabling real-time monitoring throughout its system. Level-1 played a critical role in consulting and technology design support for this infrastructure, delivering resilient infrastructure for surveillance across stations, vehicles, and public spaces. Our team has also supported the Chicago Department of Aviation, helping design infrastructures that underpin airport safety, operational resilience, and passenger experience at facilities like O’Hare and Midway.
Additionally, to improve transit reliability, the CTA and City of Chicago have deployed Transit Signal Priority (TSP) technology on select routes, speeding up travel times by up to 15% and reducing travel time variance by more than 50%. We design the enabling infrastructure for TSP coordination, ensuring CTA buses and shuttles remain on schedule and flow efficiently through intersections.
How We Support Aviation & Transit Projects
At Level-1 Global Solutions, we design and integrate resilient transit and aviation systems that enhance airport operations, rail and bus safety, and passenger experience across every mode.
Our work includes:
- Secure wireless and DAS infrastructure across terminals, platforms, stations, and bus routes
- Integrated access control and surveillance systems aligned with TSA, FAA, and CTA protocols, including station and vehicle cameras
- Transit Signal Priority integrations, enabling buses to communicate with traffic lights to hold green phases and reduce schedule deviations
- Intelligent scheduling and operational analytics to streamline passenger flow and support multimodal transfers
- Technology rooms and MDF/IDF closets engineered for energy efficiency, aesthetics, and tactical responsiveness
- Command-center readiness with AV systems, operational dashboards, and CCTV feed consolidation
Our infrastructure design services address every corner of the terminal and with timely coordination with AORs and stakeholders, we help ensure systems are not only code-compliant but construction-ready.
Why We’re Trusted
We understand the orchestration required when airports, rail, and buses interconnect across a city, especially one as transit-rich as Chicago. By collaborating closely with architects, transit authorities, security agencies, and system operators, we ensure every piece supports operational integrity, passenger safety, and long-term adaptability.
Because in aviation, the best technology systems don’t just support transit they accelerate it.
