Level-1 executed the secure relocation and installation of IT infrastructure for CPD’s newly renovated headquarters.

The Chicago Police Department (CPD), the second-largest municipal police agency in the nation continues to modernize its infrastructure to better support more than 13,000 officers and personnel. As part of its headquarters upgrade initiative, CPD required a secure, phased relocation of critical Dell computing assets from the Daley Center in downtown Chicago to its newly renovated headquarters on the city’s southwest side. 

Level-1 Global Solutions, a certified Dell servicer, was selected to lead the relocation and technical installation effort. This sensitive transfer of technology involved meticulous planning to avoid disruption to CPD’s operations and ensure continuity across critical systems.

To ensure ongoing system stability and support after installation, Level-1 also provided Day 2 services through its Extended Sourcing Solutions® (ESS®) program delivering continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and technical support to uphold system performance and reduce operational risk for this essential public safety agency. 

What We Delivered 

• Secure relocation of Dell IT infrastructure from the Daley Center to the CPD headquarters 
• Installation and configuration of a 4-host Dell PowerVault Storage Area Network (SAN), enabling centralized data access and redundancy 
• System testing and validation to ensure full operational readiness and proper integration within CPD’s existing network environment 
• Project coordination aligned with CPD’s internal IT security standards and operational timelines 
• Minimized downtime during transition, ensuring mission-critical services remained uninterrupted throughout the move 

Level-1’s successful execution of this technology relocation and installation project contributed to CPD’s broader efforts to centralize operations, improve system resilience, and provide its officers and administrative staff with a high-performing digital workspace.
