Chicago Police Department IT Upgrade

Level-1 managed CPD’s citywide IT upgrade, deploying new systems and ongoing support to strengthen Chicago’s public safety technology.

The Chicago Police Department (CPD), the second-largest municipal police force in the United States, relies on robust digital systems to support its vast operational, administrative, and field-based activities. To improve performance, standardization, and security across its technology ecosystem, CPD initiated a multi-site computer upgrade to replace aging hardware and modernize user workstations throughout the department. 

As a trusted subcontractor to Dell, Level-1 Global Solutions was selected to manage and implement the rollout of new Dell computer systems across multiple CPD locations. This citywide initiative required precise coordination, security-conscious execution, and minimal disruption to daily police operations. 

To maintain system stability and ensure long-term performance, Level-1 delivered Day 2 support through its Extended Sourcing Solutions® (ESS®) program, providing ongoing monitoring, rapid-response troubleshooting, and expert technical assistance to minimize risk and keep this mission-critical public safety infrastructure operating at peak reliability. 

What We Delivered 

• Project management and stakeholder coordination for all installation-related activities across CPD facilities 
• Facilitated onboarding and scope clarification meetings to define roles, technical requirements, and deliverables 
• Centralized point of contact for service delivery, change management, issue resolution, and performance reporting 
• Deployment of new Dell computers across multiple police stations and administrative sites 
• Installation support resourcing, including scheduling, shift coordination, and prioritization using industry-standard PM tools 
• Alignment with CPD’s security and operational continuity requirements, ensuring systems were installed without disrupting critical services 

This citywide IT upgrade ensured that CPD’s digital infrastructure could support evolving law enforcement technologies, data security protocols, and productivity tools.
