Cook County Homeland Security Camera Infrastructure
Level-1 upgraded Homeland Security camera infrastructure across 82 Cook County sites, ensuring resilient, disaster-ready surveillance systems.
With the rise in federal requirements for security and resilience, Cook County initiated a sweeping effort to bring its facility-wide surveillance infrastructure in line with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s disaster preparedness standards. The County’s 132 municipalities including hospitals, correctional facilities, courthouses, and public safety sites had been outfitted with new video surveillance systems. However, many lacked the independent power protection needed to ensure 24/7 operability during emergencies.
Level-1 Global Solutions was selected to lead both the assessment and infrastructure upgrade process. Our team conducted a comprehensive audit across all 132 municipalities to evaluate the existing state of power protection for security camera systems. We identified 82 municipalities in urgent need of redesign and enhancement, ensuring these mission-critical systems could function reliably and independently in the event of an outage or disaster.
To deliver a scalable solution that met federal guidelines and local building codes, Level-1 developed three categories of UPS-based power protection systems tailored to specific facility types and operational demands. Our team then sourced, installed, and tested the systems using compliant, U.S.-manufactured equipment in adherence with Homeland Security’s “Buy American” requirements.
