Improvements for Agency that Serves Chicago’s Low-Income Families

Cook County is the second-largest county in the U.S. and home to more than 40% of all the residents in Illinois. The Housing Authority of Cook County (HACC) is the second-largest public housing authority in Illinois, serving 108 communities and unincorporated areas and administering several rent assistance programs with the goal of providing safe and desirable housing for all county residents. The HACC’s conventional public housing program consists of 2,100+ owned units of low-income housing. The Rent Assistance Division services 13,000+ families, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities. HACC’s mobility assistance, family self-sufficiency, and home ownership programs are designed to make a positive difference and help participants achieve independence.

In addition to upgrading HACC’s existing VMware from v4 to v5 at two locations, Level-1 was provided HACC with onsite support for setting up and configuring Dell hardware. Once the migration was successful, the existing equipment was decommissioned from production for relocation. Equipment to be repurposed was refreshed for installation in order to retire older hardware. Replication between the EqualLogic’s was reconfigured to continue the existing design.
