Level-1 unified AV, security, and smart building systems for Chicago’s dual-branded Hilton Garden Inn and Canopy, redefining technology integration in hospitality design.

As Chicago’s Southwest Loop continues to attract investment and development, hospitality infrastructure is rising to meet the growing demand. At the center of this transformation is the former City Colleges of Chicago headquarters at 226 W. Jackson Boulevard, an iconic, 14-story, 238,000-square-foot landmark now being repurposed as a $100 million, dual-branded Hilton hotel. Spearheaded by Phoenix Development Partners, the project delivers 349 guest rooms divided between a 135-room Hilton Garden Inn and a 214-room Canopy by Hilton, Chicago’s first installation of the brand, along with an outdoor rooftop featuring a pool, lounge, and entertainment area. 

Level-1 Global Solutions was selected to lead the technology design and implementation for the entire property. Our work spanned low-voltage systems, audiovisual integration, and security infrastructure, ensuring seamless interoperability between the two brands while maintaining the performance and guest experience standards associated with Hilton properties. From building automation to sound system commissioning, our scope encompassed both technical excellence and operational efficiency. 

Our Scope Includes 

• Engineering, furnishing, and installation of voice, data, and video systems supporting hotel operations, guest services, and administrative functions 
• Integrated audiovisual design including Martin Audio speakers, Crestron control systems, and Lab Gruppen amplifiers for shared and brand-specific spaces 
• Comprehensive building automation and control infrastructure tailored for dual-brand operational requirements 
• Security camera system design and installation, including 32 Pelco surveillance units strategically placed throughout public and back-of-house areas 
• Deployment of audio and system control platforms, along with hands-on training for Hilton management and operations staff 
• End-to-end project management from initial design through construction administration and post-installation support 

By unifying technology design across two distinct Hilton brands in a shared historic structure, Level-1 helped deliver a future-ready hospitality destination that respects the architectural legacy of the site while embracing the smart systems and guest expectations of modern lodging. The result is a landmark reimagined serving Chicago’s evolving hospitality landscape with style, security, and seamless integration.
