Ohio State University Postle Hall

Level-1+BCL JV delivered integrated technology and security systems for OSU Postle Hall, advancing education, clinical care, and digital readiness.

At the heart of Ohio’s healthcare workforce stands The Ohio State University’s Postle Hall, home to the fourth-largest College of Dentistry in the United States. When OSU launched its ambitious $95 million renovation to transform Postle Hall into a modern academic and clinical hub, the goal was to expand capacity, elevate the patient experience, and align its infrastructure with the digital demands of a next-generation medical campus. The renovation included the demolition of the original east wing and construction of 130,000 square feet of new high-performance space, including simulation labs, ambulatory surgery units, radiology centers, and advanced A/V-enabled classrooms.

Level-1 Global Solutions, in joint venture with BCL IT Consulting (Level-1+BCL JV), was selected to lead the technology and security infrastructure design under a Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) delivery model. Working from the earliest design phases, Level-1+BCL JV collaborated closely with the Dean of the School of Dentistry, OSU’s Office of the CIO, and the architect/engineer team to deliver a flexible, high-capacity digital environment supporting both academic and clinical needs. From offsite data center relocation and temporary network connections to the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM), our work ensured minimal disruption and maximum coordination throughout construction.

Our Scope Included

  • Strategic technology demolition and phased relocation planning
  • Design and engineering of telecommunications and structured cabling infrastructure
  • Security systems design, including surveillance and access control
  • Relocation of the central data center and connection of temporary clinical spaces
  • Coordination with OSU’s CIO for tech closet placement and system integration
  • Wireless network architecture to support high-density device usage
  • A/V design to support advanced curriculum delivery and medical applications
  • Integration of communications, life safety, and security systems across new and renovated areas

By uniting healthcare, education, and technology in a single modernized facility, Level-1+BCL JV helped OSU create a future-ready Postle Hall capable of supporting both the university’s academic mission and the evolving needs of Ohio’s dental professionals. The project exemplifies how thoughtful, anticipatory design can elevate both patient outcomes and learning environments within a major public institution.
